February 28, 2006
EAST CHICAGO—Saint Margaret Mercy's East Chicago
Family Services clinic won the Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce's
Economic Development award. The award was presented Saturday,
Feb. 18, at the chamber's annual Star Appreciation Night
at Dynasty Banquet Hall in Hammond.
East Chicago Mayor George Pabey personally nominated East
Chicago Family Services for the award. East Chicago Family
Services, located at 2001 E. Columbus Drive, opened in 2005
answering the need for primary care physician services in
the city with the added bonus of a bilingual physician and
staff who are able to serve the unique needs of the city's
large Latino population. The clinic has been a welcome addition
to the City of East Chicago.
Saint Margaret Mercy's mission is "Continuing Christ's
Ministry In Our Franciscan Tradition," which includes
our Franciscan Values of Respect for Life, Fidelity to our
Mission, Compassionate Concern, Joyful Service and Christian
Stewardship. Hospital employees keep the mission alive with
voluntarily contributions to monthly C.A.R.E. (Courtesy,
Attitude, Respect, Enthusiasm) collections and the annual
Catherine McAuley Clinic employee campaign and various mission
activities throughout the year.
