Saint Margaret Mercy's monthly GEM award is designed to
show appreciation for hospital employees who consistently
perform their duties while treating others with respect,
dignity, fairness and compassion. Peers anonymously nominate
those employees who best exemplify the mission and philosophy
of the hospital.
Winners of the GEM award receive a reserved parking space
for one month, a recognition pin, certificate of award and
an invitation to attend an annual luncheon with the president
and executive vice president of the hospital. President
Tom Gryzbek states: "Many of our employees go that
extra mile to provide quality care to our patients. The
GEM award is one way we can recognize their efforts."
Saint Margaret Mercy's mission, "Continuing Christ's
Ministry In Our Franciscan Tradition," includes our
Franciscan Values of Respect for Life, Fidelity to our Mission,
Compassionate Concern, Joyful Service and Christian Stewardship.
Hospital employees keep the mission alive with voluntarily
contributions to monthly C.A.R.E. (Courtesy, Attitude, Respect,
Enthusiasm) collections and the annual Cathernine McAuley
Clinic employee campaign and various mission activities
throughout the year.
