Hammond/Dyer, Ind.– Communicating updates on a hospitalized loved one to numerous relatives and friends can be a time consuming and repetitive task. That’s why Saint Margaret Mercy’s Web site now offers a link to PatientUpdates.org.

This is how it works. A family member of the patient can set up an account with PatientUpdates.org for entering progress reports for interested family and friends to monitor. The “editor” sends out an initial e-mail to those he/she wants to keep informed. After the initial e-mail, it’s up to the recipient to make return visits to the site.

Saint Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers is not affiliated with PatientUpdates.org, but has permission to provide a link on its Web site. The link is a free public service to patient families wanting to simplify the communication flow concerning their loved one.

“In offering a link to PatientUpdates.org, it is our hope that we can ease the family’s burden of keeping others informed in a timely fashion,” said Gene Diamond, president and CEO of Saint Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers. “With the Internet fast becoming our world’s primary communication tool, this electronic message board is one of many technological services that Saint Margaret Mercy is committed to bringing to this community.”
