Hammond/Dyer, Ind.– Chicago Magazine has named Dr. Jacob Rotmensch, on staff at Saint Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers, to be among metropolitan Chicago's top doctors. This prestigious list appears in the magazine's January 2003 issue.

Dr. Rotmensch, obstetrician/gynecologist, specializes and is board certified in gynecologic oncology. He also is on staff at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dr. Rotmensch received his medical training at Meharry Medical College, School of Medicine, Nashville, Tenn. He interned and completed residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Md., where he also completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology.

Chicago Magazine chose this year's 15 top doctors in the Chicago metropolitan area from a list of cutting edge medical researchers who are "Racing for a Cure" via original research that brings them close to something that will make a difference in patient care. Dr. Rotmensch has developed a new approach in radiation therapy for ovarian cancer. He has been working for 10 years with his colleagues at the University of Chicago Hospitals and with Argonne Laboratory to develop an isotope that carries unusual potential for treating metastatic ovarian cancer, and is working on ways to deliver it in an effective manner. He plans to conduct clinical testing soon.
