The firm surveyed about 12,000 Chicago-area doctors, nurses and hospital administrators for names of physicians to whom they would entrust a family member when confronting a particular problem. The process yielded more than 500 names arranged into 39 commonly consulted medical specialties. Primary care and emergency-medicine physicians are not included in the list.
