Saint Margaret Mercy’s Hammond campus names December GEM

HAMMOND-Whiting resident Rosa Lopez, clinical reimbursement specialist in the Perinatal Center, is the December GEM (Going the Extra Mile) at Saint Margaret Mercy’s Hammond Campus.

The co-worker who nominated Lopez said, “Rosa takes pride in her work at all times. She is a dedicated member of the Saint Margaret Mercy family and goes over and beyond her duties to help others. She readily accepts any task regardless of the challenge. She recently took on a difficult role in the department without hesitation. She is an asset to the hospital and to the unit.”

Lopez’ supervisor said, “Rosa manages all of her duties with a smile and a positive attitude. Her co-workers, including the doctors, like her and appreciate her professionalism and office demeanor. She is accurate and precise.”

Lopez has been employed at Saint Margaret Mercy for nine years.
Saint Margaret Mercy’s monthly GEM award is designed to show appreciation for hospital employees who consistently perform their duties while treating others with respect, dignity, fairness and compassion. Peers anonymously nominate those employees who best exemplify the mission and philosophy of the hospital.

Winners of the GEM award receive a reserved parking space for one month, a recognition pin, certificate of award and an invitation to attend an annual luncheon with the president and executive vice president of the hospital. President Tom Gryzbek, states:  “Many of our employees go that extra mile to provide quality care to our patients.  The GEM award is one way we can recognize their efforts.”
