VanderHout earns Saint Margaret
Mercy’s
Timothy Galvin Community Award
HAMMOND—Saint Margaret Mercy’s annual Employee Recognition
Dinner, held on Thursday, May 5 at Villa De Bruno in Lynwood, Ill.,
honored 690 employees for their years of service at Saint Margaret
Mercy.
Presentation of the new Timothy Galvin Community Award highlighted
the evening. The award, given in memory of Timothy Galvin, former
chairman of Saint Margaret Mercy’s Board of Directors and
a true believer in the Sisters of St. Francis mission, is based
on the following criteria: Work done outside paid hours; work that
exemplifies our Franciscan Values; work that is extraordinary in
scope; work that helps those in need.
Trudie VanderHout, nursing assistant on 4 East, is the first Timothy
Galvin Community Award recipient. VanderHout is a member of Saint
Margaret Mercy’s Mission Integration Committee. Her profession
at Saint Margaret Mercy is complemented by the time she volunteers
to coordinate the St. Patrick’s Day balloon sale to benefit
the Sister Mary Benedict Fund, and emergency fund for hospital
employees. VanderHout also volunteers her time to coordinate the
monthly C.A.R.E. drives, during which the hospital collects food
and supplies for local pantries, shelters and schools.
