Neurodiagnostics

With skilled neurologists on staff, the Neurodiagnostics team at Saint Margaret Mercy offers a full-range of services designed to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating a variety of conditions of the central nervous system (i.e. brain and spinal cord). This includes treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome, epilepsy, stroke and other neurological conditions.

Combining state-of-the-art digital technology with a seasoned, board-certified medical staff, Neurodiagnostics offers a wide range of adult and pediatric neurodiagnostic and electroneurodiagnostic testing services. This includes:

  • Epilepsy monitoring – Epilepsy patients are observed through the use of an EEG with simultaneous video monitoring. This is done to document seizure activity over an extended period of time.
  • Nerve conduction velocity studies, commonly used to diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Electromyography (EMG) – a clinical test used to study the electrical activity of muscles and investigate possible muscle pathology.
  • Visual evoked potential – used in the diagnosis of optic neuritis, multiple sclerosis and lesions of the optic pathway.
  • Brainstem auditory evoked potentials – used to evaluate the auditory pathway to determine hearing loss.
  • Somatosensory evoked potentials – helpful in diagnosing multiple sclerosis, radiculapatheies and thoracic outlet syndrome.
